Members of University of Portland’s freshmen class are among the best, brightest, and most academically qualified students in the Pacific Northwest. More than 1,000 new freshmen joined the UP community last year, and each year their high school achievements set new University records. The freshmen class of 2015 entered with an old SAT average of 1193 (mid 50% ranging between 1100-1290); an average ACT score of 26; and an average high school GPA of 3.63 (cumulative and unweighted).
Applications for Fall 2017 are now open. UP reviews applications with rolling admissions; we recommend applying by our priority deadline of November 15, 2016. Our final deadline is January 15, 2017.
UP operates with rolling admissions for freshman applicants beginning September 1. We highly encourage students to apply well in advance of our January 15 final deadline. Make sure you have your application documents in and don't miss any important dates!
UP provides an average of $23,300 in financial aid to incoming freshmen, and that's excluding loans. We offer merit-based aid and need-based aid in addition to scholarships in music, theater, communication studies, athletics, and ROTC.
Any accepted freshman may apply to this program which includes honors core courses, focused work in a student's major, a faculty mentor, and special emphases on study abroad, research, service opportunities, and more. Incoming honors students have an average 3.8 GPA and SAT scores of 1300.
