Portland Pilots receive All-American honors at track & field national championship

Three University of Portland Pilots earned All-American honors and one received Honorable Mention for their performances during the 2016 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday.

Reid Buchanan ’17 finished in 5th place in the 10,000m. Buchanan was named to the First Team All-American list after completing the 25 lap race in 29:13.40.

Lauren LaRocco ’18 received two First Team All-American awards for her performances in the 5,000m and the 10,000m. In her sophomore season and first trip to Nationals, she first took 4th place in the 10,000. Two days later, LaRocco finished 6th in the 5,000m.

Woody Kincaid ’15 earned Second Team All-American honors after his 9th place finish in the 5,000m. Kincaid topped his previous personal record by 16 seconds and the previous program record by 8 seconds with his time of 13:32.49.

In her first trip to Nationals, Kaylie Van Loo ’17 earned Honorable Mention honors with her 18th place finish in the javelin. Van Loo is the first Pilot thrower in program history to compete at Nationals.
